who is eligible for this program?
the program is currently designed for 6th through 8th grade students, currently we are focused on the Dallas Metropolitan area, New York City area, DC, and Philadelphia.
please refer any students, schools, or student organizations to the program! We encourage you to share www.travelathome.today with anyone interested in the program. If there are any questions feel free to reach out to flightacademy@tooflyfoundation.org
what are some of the activities in the program?
the intent of the program is to provide students with an immersive experience that covers typical activities before international travel (such as research, budgeting, and planning for a trip), activities that are typical during your trip (such as identifying activities to participate in, learning about the local cuisine, local customs, and traditions), and post travel reflections.
Students will also have the opportunity to virtually tour their country online and with the virtual reality headsets, as well as participate in VR games and activities.
what are the benefits of the program?
Too Fly will be taking our flight academy digital, addressing the need to bridge the gaps between travel, education and technology for students of color. Through our program we are looking to expose students to new technologies, motivate students to learn and encourage students to travel.
When travel restrictions are lifted the communities we are serving may be less likely to travel now more than ever with financial hardships. Ideally, we’d be bringing these opportunities in their homes and giving them unique travel opportunities through education and technology.
what is the time commitment for the program?
The student will have 10 days from the arrival of the Too Fly Virtual Curriculum Kit with equipment to complete the virtual curriculum. The experience is self-paced and can be completed at whatever pace the student feels comfortable but we reccommend 1-2 hours a day.
